This appears to be another new book in the area of supply chain management but it does exactly what it says on the tin. The authors clearly have a good working knowledge of the various elements of the supply chain function as practical examples are used throughout to illustrate and clarify points. This is one of those rare books where the topic really is brought to life with interesting and entertaining examples. The supply chain process (mercifully not referred to as value chain) is broken down into clear and logical steps: plan, source, make, deliver and return. In addition to these stages the book covers broader but closely related areas including supply chain strategy, people, finance, customer service and outsourcing. Each chapter is well structured and covers all the key elements with clear illustrations that are easy to follow and understand. This book cannot be too highly recommended to practitioners of supply chain whether they are students or managers wanting to brush up their skills. Unlike many business books this was a pleasure to read so it will be well received by supply chain enthusiasts everywhere. Five stars are well earned as examples of good practice shine out from every chapter.
